Our Philosophy
At Cheeky Monkeys we believe that childhood is a unique, valuable and most important stage of a child’s life. We believe that children are unique individuals with their own personality and interests and that we should respect and value.
We believe that children are capable learners. Children learn by doing through actions, observations, inquiries, interactions, opportunities and repetitions. Children learn when they move, jump, sing, dance, act, copy their friends and just simply play! When children experience a sense of enjoyment during the learning activities and they establish this connection of feelings, that’s when we achieve a very important step. Which is to inspire curiosity and inquiries in and outside the classroom and in doing so is to build a strong motivation and to nurture feeling of a life-long love of learning.
We at Cheeky Monkeys Learning Centre are committed to providing a warm caring positive environment within our centre to make children feel accepted and secure for them to develop positive self-esteem and confidence. At Cheeky Monkeys we aim to create a safe, positive and encouraging environment for children to express themselves and be facilitated through mutual respect, warmth, support, guides and responsiveness.
We believe that child’s earliest experiences happen in the home and parents’ involvement in those experiences is significant. We value the fact that parents have the most intimate knowledge about their child/ren and we intend to be approachable by parents to work together to achieve the best possible outcomes for the children.
The staff at Cheeky Monkeys Learning Centre work as a team but individual ideas, skills, personalities and ways of working with each staff member will still be fostered.
Sharing these expertises among staff members will broaden the worth of the group as a whole and allow them to grow professionally.
The experiences provided through our programme will encourage children to be actively involved in their learning through a variety of appropriate activities at their own pace and to pursue their own interest in the world around them. Children are very responsive and absorbent, therefore, it is necessary that their surroundings be filled with stimulations and potential for learning. Our overall quality of the programme reflects an awareness and understanding of multi-cultural, non-sexist, non racist and open minded approaches.
Our Curriculum
Cheeky Monkeys follows the UK National Curriculum as the basis for its teaching guidelines and learning outcomes.
- Children aged 1 to 3 years are in Playgroup following Birth to 3 matters.
- Children aged 3 to 4 are in Playgroup following Foundation stage.
- Children aged 4 to 5 are in Reception class following the second year of Foundation stage.
- Children aged 5 to 6 are in Kindergarten following Key Stage 1.
We incorporate this framework into fun, playful, creative activities such as; free painting, sand play, water play, music and movement, sport activities, craft making, cooking and gardening to cater for the differing needs of the children.
